We smile at Santa Claus’ jelly-belly or stand in awe of a pregnant women creating new life. However, when our tummy expands (which is defined as part of our Core) and the button on our outfit gets tighter…not so much.
There is a lot of talk about keeping our CORE healthy.
- Core –Physical Value
We are in a crisis today with an overweight and obese society causing serious health issues. It can cause diabetes, certain cancers, and heart issues. Women have tummy tucks, wear spanx, and some struggle with bulimia or anorexia disorders.
Health experts tell us to eat lots of fiber, veggies, and protein to help the digestive system which will in turn help our heart and our overall well-being. Kayla has some food choices below.
If I had a choice to eat a warm chocolate chip cookie straight from the oven or a celery stick….you know the answer. I fail many times, but I try to get back up and make wise choices by what I eat. God created my tummy and He has trusted me to take care of my temple.
Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (ESV)
It is our own personal choice if we invite the couch potato to invade our life. Core exercises are tough and I struggle weekly getting down on the floor. But I know my heart and even my mental health thank me. It is wonderful to have the worldwide web to give suggestions. (Oh and don’t check in with your doctor first J)

- Financial decisions
But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourself this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord. Joshua 24:15
Laying a foundation with God’s Core Values will help in raising the children, making decisions in the workplace, and living a life of obedience to God.
Each and every day, we have two important choices with our physical and spiritual core. Choosing healthy decisions will be a win-win situation. We are all in this together and the amazing thing is that
God thinks us as the Core of everything.
- Grab your tennis shoes, go for a walk and then work on your core! High five to you!
- Have a list in your kitchen of healthy snacks so you know exactly what to grab when the hunger pains come.
- Grab your Bible to learn of God’s Values.
- Trust God to walk beside you as a Mom, employee, and Child of God.
