All our bones, muscles, organs, and veins have been uniquely covered by skin holding everything in place.
Our skin has it’s our own DNA, our calling card. What one person deals with as skin issues, another struggles with something totally different. Some skin age faster than others, while some look extremely young in their senior years.
Most women struggle with the skin they live in which has become a major problem in our society. Eating disorders, expensive Botox treatments, lavish exercise and dietary programs have controlled women for years. Why? Because they are never satisfied. They wish they had the colour of her skin, or the flawless complexion of someone else. Some have stretch marks while others have never seen a line on their body. Some have extremely dry skin and want oily. Those with oily want dry skin. It can become all-consuming causing depression.
I have very old looking hands. Always have, always will no matter how much cream I put on. Gravity now plays a part in how my skin holds it all in. If I obsess about it, it will control me.
It is time to celebrate our skin because the truth is, God gave us this DNA. He celebrated when He made us!
My old looking hands do not define who I am, but I still need to take care of them. Gravity will continue to play a part in my middle-aged body, so I replenish it with water, wear sunscreen, and exercise.
We cannot change the aging process no matter how hard we try. What we can do, is remember to take care of our skin because we are God’s creation, not because we have to look like something out of a magazine. I love to have a facial, I exfoliate once a week, and use cover-up to hide the dark circles under my eyes.
The Apostle Paul put things in perspective. So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. 2 Corinthians 4:16
With the skin we live in, the most important decision is to renew our spirit every day. Refresh and re-enter God’s presence to be renewed. What is in our heart will show through our skin. People who are bitter and angry have a hard look about them. In contrast, those who are being renewed day by day have a beauty about them that money cannot buy.
Take care of the skin you are in. You are a treasure created my God. Most importantly take care of what is inside your skin by asking God to renew your inner self. True beauty will shine through.
