ID-10025699Our ears hold eye glasses in place, our hat from drooping over our eyes, and grace sparkly earrings on the lobes! God created us with ears on either side of our face making it a complete surround-sound system. Inside are intrigue workings and if every piece is working, it keeps us balanced. It provides us with the capacity to hear the birds singing, the sound of a violin in an orchestra, or a knock at the door.

Each day, our beautiful ears will hear thousands of words. Some positive and some negative.

  1. What We Hear from People

Isn’t it wonderful when people encourage us with positive words?  It brings such reassurance to our soul. We listen to instructions for a new skill and engage in conversations with friends.

On the flipside, our ears hear criticizing words not only from people but we may put ourselves down too. It is easy to remember those damaging words from our childhood. Wounded people say wounded words.

Hearing words like, “why can’t you be like her”, or “you will never amount to anything”, can crush the spirit.  Yet words like, “you are really good at that”, or “you are a beautiful person inside and out”, or “I am so proud of you” can make or break the direction of someone’s life.

Listening to false words and believing them is never good. It is time to break the cycle. Spending time with those that use encouraging words and speak truth in love will be a salve to the soul.  When our children hear words to build them up as unique and gifted creations, it will help mold their future.

Each day those beautiful ears will hear many things. Step back and process what is truth and what isn’t.  What we can always be assured of hearing words of Truth from our Creator from His Scriptures.

  1. What we hear from God.

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, god’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.  1 Peter 2:9

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.  James 1:5

Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! Luke 12:24

Morning, noon, and night you hear my concerns and my complaints. Psalm 55:17

  • As you hear what people have to say to you, filter it and ask God to reveal Truth!
  • Pass on words of encouragement to your children so they may hear truth in love.
