Living life causes feet to have callouses, warts, corns, fallen arches, knobby toes; all fitting different sizes and shapes of footwear. Each day has me changing from slippers, dress shoes, farmer boots, and back to cushion footwear. No wonder my poor feet struggle!
I found some stats on feet and two ‘stood’ out. (For fun, check out some really amazing facts)
- The average adult takes 4,000-6,000 steps a day.
- The average person will walk around 115,000 miles in a lifetime, that’s more than 4 times around the Earth!
Dear single moms, your pilgrimage is stretched before you. You have a lot of steps to walk. God has just the right pair of shoes for you to slip into to help you take one step at a time.
Those feet will walk to gather laundry, stand making school lunches, carrying a sick child to the doctors, and arrive at the park to stand at the bottom of the slide. Your feet will run beside your child as they learn to ride a bike, carry boxes to your car to move them to college, or take them to the airport as they start a new career. Those feet move you to the lawyer’s office to sign the divorce papers, or transport you with trepidation to enter the court house. They will jump up and down as you watch your children participate in their sports activity or travel with them on a vacation. No wonder our feet are weary!
David understood that God was the only one who could set him back on a firm foundation.
When I felt my feet slipping, you came with your love and kept me steady. And when I was burdened with worries, you comforted me and made me feel secure. Psalm 94:18-19
Do you feel you are standing on shaky ground right now? Let I did, join King David, the Psalmist, who walked this journey. Walk or run to God, He is there!
Your feet have a great responsibility. The amazing fact is that you will SUCCEED if you reach out to God for His love and His steadiness. God proved time and time again as I ran to Him that He was always there. Put on your new shoes and believe in God’s promises.
If you do what the Lord wants, he will make certain each step you take is sure. The Lord will hold your hand, and if you stumble, you still won’t fall. Psalm 37:23-24
- Be assured, as you take one step in front of the other, God will keep you steady.
- Go have some fun with your kids…run, play and make good memories with those ten toes.
- When it feels like you have walked the earth 4 times today, rest in God’s safety. Tomorrow is a new day!
- Go soak your feet! You are worth it!
