Magazines, cosmetic counters, the worldwide web, and television hit us with beauty tips to make us look younger, more sophisticated, and of course….glamorous! There are products labeled ‘not tested on animals’ (good!), others say ‘all natural’, and some post pictures of celebrities claiming the products they use are the best!
The products I want to share over the next few weeks are beauty tips created by the One who spoke the world into existence. He made us and provides us with life- giving beauty tips to enhance our inner being. This beauty is lasting as we walk the red carpet of life.
We are beautiful because God breathed life into us. Life situations can zap us and put strain on our bodies. Sadly, women who have carried bitterness and pain in their life reflect a hard look in their walk. Life is tough and a single mom journey can put a strain on the inner and outer parts of the body. Good news! The beauty that God gives us is free, refreshing, and confidence building.
I understand the feelings of insignificance and a lack of beauty when rejected by a spouse. I used to feel less than beautiful because my ex chose someone else. It took some time to get back on level ground and love who I was as God’s unique creation.
We are all unique. Each of us have gifts and talents that God instilled in our life. We come from all different race, home situations, cultures, and places on our world map. The unifying factor is that we are God’s creation. Refreshment and rejuvenation is offered to all. True beauty flows from the inside out!
That doesn’t mean we can’t do anything to enhance the package God put has us in. My daughter trained as an aesthetician. I have asked her to give a beauty tip each week for the outer body part I share to make us feel pampered on the outside.
Don’t ever forget,
And I praise you because of the wonderful way you created me. Everything you do is marvelous! Of this I have no doubt. Psalm 139:14
Charm can be deceiving, and beauty fades away, but a woman who honors the Lord deserves to be praised. Proverbs 31:30
To comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion—to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. Isaiah 61: 2b-3 (NIV)
