No Hat Head! The Helmet of Salvation

Forever grateful for God’s Salvation, His Helmet has provided a calm in the storms of life. His provision of eternal life sets my feet on an eternal foundation. How about you?

But we belong to the day. So we must stay sober and let our faith and love be like a suit of armor. Our firm hope that we will be saved is our helmet. God doesn’t intend to punish us, but wants us to be saved by our Lord Jesus Christ. Christ died for us, so that we could live with him, whether we are alive or dead when he comes. 1 Thessalonians 5:8-10

While on earth, He gives us the helmet. Our mind is a powerful tool to move the rest of the body. God’s Helmet helps keep things in perspective.

As a Single mom, life can feel negative. Will life ever be ‘normal’?

Have you asked like these? If so, you are not alone.

  • Why does the ex-husband move ahead while I struggle?
  • Why do I have all the responsibilities?
  • Why can he just have fun with the children on his weekend?
  • Why does his financial support keep falling behind?
  • Why am I still single?
  • Why are my children put through this?

If we have stinkin thinkin, our actions will show it.  Believe me, many are justified. If we keep the Helmet of Salvation on tight we can reverse some thoughts to fight the right way.

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Philippians 4:8

ID-100204084 I wrestled with thoughts and found myself pacing and stamping my feet. Life wasn’t fair.  Philippians 4:8 would have been a good tattoo but I am too chicken.

As an example, let’s turn some of these questions around.

 

  • Why does the ex-husband move ahead while I struggle?

He has gotten on with his life but you also have a new road to travel with endless possibilities.  The sky is the limit!!

  • Why do I have all the responsibilities?

That is a toughie, but look at all you can do on your own! (I didn’t like doing some of the jobs my ex did, but wow, I learned to do it well!)

  • Why can he just have fun with the children on his weekend?

It does seem like everything is fun and packed with exciting and memory-making activities. His possible limited time means everything is fun. Remember, you are their constant. You can be the glue that holds them together giving stability and routine.

  • Why does his financial support keep falling behind?

I don’t get it when the father of the children don’t provide and having to take him to court only takes your money. Realize that God owns the cattle on the thousand hills.

Every animal in the forest belongs to me, and so do the cattle on a thousand hills. Psalm 50:10

Though I received child support, many times money was desperately tight.  So I asked God if he would sell one of his cows and send me the money!  God always provided in ways I couldn’t have imagined!

  • Why am I still single?

Matters of the heart are heavy.  Loneliness is one of the most questioned for single moms. I asked the same. Don’t despair. God has gone ahead. I thought 12 years alone was pushing it! Ha! But, He had just the right fellow in His Time. In the meantime, your bank account, your time, and your decisions are yours alone.

  • Why are my children put through this?

It hurts a Momma’s heart when the children have to walk this journey. If I could have taken all the hurt, tears, and upheaval away from them, I would have. You can guide, wipe away tears, and create memories. Your positive words will be like a super vitamin in their development.

When despair and negative thoughts overtake you, ask God to fill your mind with His thoughts.  It doesn’t mean things will instantly be changed, but your attitude and gratitude of God’s Salvation will move you forward.

The Helmet of Salvation, tucked by your ears, can fight the day. Our positive thinkin’ will help us fight the good way.  Claim 2 Corinthians 10:5,

We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
