A new year has begun with a new number: 2016. Twelve months straight ahead! I used to wonder as a single mom what the next 365 days would bring. Then I realized I was glad I didn’t have a clue!
I keep a journal of my life and am amazed at what events and situations have crossed my path over the past year. Some have been sad while others have been wonderful. That is what life on earth is all about. How, we deal with each one is so important.
Every year I pick a word that will direct me and help me in my journey. Some years the words have been trust, joy, peace, prayer, and hope. As I make out new goals and to-do lists, that certain word circles it all. I have encouraged you in the past to do this and I believe it is important enough to say it again!
This year my word is HEALTH. It isn’t just the physical aspect but spiritual health as it all interconnects. With that I have made goals.
I would encourage you to pick a word for 2016. It might be words such as contentment, trust, patience, forgiveness, enjoyment, or family time.
As you make your choice, then write out some goals to go with it. When I had the word Trust, I had to trust safety as I drove to work and my girls headed to school, trust God that He knew my struggles as a single mom, trust when I needed finances, and trust if I was to re-marry again. I choose a Bible verse as well and marked that in my Bible for that year.
OH MY WORD!!! Yes, make it a good word to enhance your life and the life of your children. Let God be your Faithful Guide and Partner…He won’t disappoint.
Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning: great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23(NIV)
