A Bag of Apples

DOC090215-0001 (5)Each Autumn, the girls and I would head to the apple orchard with my brother’s family and some friends.  It was great time finding our favourite flavour, walking through the rows and pulling apples from its heavy laden branches.

God created this beautiful world for us to enjoy. Reaping the treasures of His creation probably made Him smile. He made it for us and He knew it was good.

Genesis 1:12, The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds.  And God saw that it was good.

They say an apple a day keeps the doctor away but despite the health benefits, the girls and I had a blast. However, one year it didn’t play out as planned. Ever have one of those planned events turn sour?

Not sure what had conspired that year with schedules, but it had become really late in the season to go to the apple orchard. It was just the three of us this time. I think everyone else had gotten their fill of apples.  Off the three of us went, only to be so disappointed that most of the apples were on the ground!

So instead of picking apples off the branches, we were bending down and scooping them off the ground.  I was still determined to pick apples and told the girls that we had come this far so we had to do it!  My girls were so patient! Ha Ha

We left with a bag of apples, not in their prime, but nevertheless our little tradition continued. It still brings a smile to my face that despite the way we picked apples, we still were together picking apples; bruised or not.
