As the girls grew up, our summers were filled with of campfires, hours of swimming, and walking the beach. I loved sitting on a particular huge rock by the lake while waves crashed against its shore. I brought these babies to this place near the rock in strollers and then sat with them as they got older.
That rock is a stable and familiar part of the beach whether the winter ice pushes on it or the spring winds and rain crash against it. The summer breezes create the water to smash on this rock and the autumn leaves kiss it as they pass by. One thing is certain; it remains unmoveable.
Its benefit for me was sitting there each summer as the years passed by quietly enjoying the beauty set before me. I am confident it will be there just as it was the previous season.
So is God, Our Rock. He will never change and is always the same. He is immovable and despite the world’s choices and demands, He is our constant.
Knowing that God was my Rock, I could have His confidence as a single mom. You know all too well the winds of despair and the storms of problems that crash into your lives and the lives of your children. Know God is here.
Moses understood this in dealing with people just as did the writers of 1 Samuel.
Deuteronomy 32:4, He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.
1 Samuel 2:2, There is no one holy like the Lord; there is no one beside you; there is no Rock like our God.
As we call out to God for help, we can be assured He will help us each day, each month, and each season. There is no Rock like our God. I am enjoying a book on prayers from Jackie Johnson.
Jackie M. Johnson and the following “From Power Prayers for Women”, published by Barbour Publishing, Inc. Used with permission, p. 63 wrote,
“Lord, I come before You to ask that You would establish our home on the solid rock of Your love. Please be our cornerstone. I pray that our family would be rooted in love, grounded in grace, and rich in respect for one another. Help us to be a family that reaches up to You, reaches in to support each other, and reaches out to the world around us. May we stand firm as a family built on a foundation of true faith.”
Let God be your Solid Rock living out single motherhood as the daily grind crashes against you. God is our cornerstone and foundation to hold us upright. He is unchangeable and faithful.
Psalm 61:2, From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
- Put to memory Psalm 61:2 knowing that with the waves of life, God is the Solid Rock
- Build up your little family with God as your solid Rock and Cornerstone
- Instill in your children that God is their Rock and will always be there for them
- What issues are you facing right now that you need call out to your Rock?
YOU CAN DO THIS!
