With many of the difficulties I faced, I was encouraged to RELEASE every situation to God and let Him take the lead. Phrases like ‘buck up’ or ‘get over it already’ has nothing to do with Releasing what needs to be done for healing. It wasn’t instant for me. It was slowly releasing each painful issue and letting God take my broken road and making it passable again.
J.Sidlow Baxter said, “What is the difference between an obstacle and an opportunity? Our attitude toward it. Every opportunity has a difficulty, and every difficulty has an opportunity.”
Maybe you need release from
- Lack of being content
- Being hard on yourself
- Forgiving yourself
- Forgiving your ex
- Asking the question: Why?
- Past abuse
- Resentment with all your new responsibilities
We all have junk in our lives. It’s part of being human. The good news is that God gives us resources and strength to enable us to release some very painful issues in our life. Healing can take place; I am a living example.
It might mean writing out a contract to yourself to work on releasing your hurt, your past, present and future. Put a date on it. Some of the cards my ex gave to me about ‘loving me forever’ weren’t helpful to say the least. I placed them in the fire and asked God to begin to release the pain and fill me with His Peace as I watched the paper go up in smoke. If you don’t have a fireplace, take your written contract, seal it, and then lock in a spot to open a year later. I know you will see progress.
Taking your picture albums and cutting out the eyes of your ex is not release. My albums had pictures of the children with their dad, so I packed them away but they still had access to see them. Truth is; Releasing will always be a part of our lives if we want to heal and growth. God is never tired of us asking for help.
J. Sidlow Baxter was right. We can either live with obstacles in our life, or turn them into opportunities as we RELEASE our situations to God. When we do that, we are allowing some exciting growth and adventures to happen. I have often found myself saying, Who would have thought….God did! 🙂
Joshua 1:9, I’ve commanded you to be strong and brave. Don’t ever be afraid or discouraged! I am the Lord your God, and I will be there to help you where you go.
And with that,
Psalm 30:11, You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothes me with joy.
- Define what you need to Release
- Take that list and think of positive ways to heal
- Talk to a friend about your struggles and be accountable to her
- Find a creative way to get rid of some of your pain…no fire in the house please except in the fireplace!!!
- Memorize Joshua 1:9 and Psalm 30:11
YOU CAN DO THIS!
