November, the IN-BETWEEN MONTH

IMG_9616The month of November is still considered autumn but I think of it as the in-between month.  Autumn has been full of activity; colours have been spectacular, the Christmas season (and Thanksgiving for my American friends) will be soon arriving, but November can seem to be a drab month for me. Do you feel the same way?

In my part of the world, the trees are bare, the ground is blanketed with dried-up brown leaves, the furnace is now running, and those nasty pantyhose have to be pulled back out of the drawer! Yuck! And Double Yuck!

In the in-between stages of our seasons of life, it may feel like life is November.  Same old, same old.  Where is the excitement?

Talking to God about my feelings and reflecting on His promises, the in-between month wasn’t as drab. His words in Scripture felt like a warm blanket wrapped around my heart. I just had to look for it. God wants to fill our hearts and minds with His hope and strength.  It’s going to be ok.IMG_0217

Psalm 73:26, My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

Romans 15:4, For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.

Because of my personal faith in Jesus who walked and lived what we feel, I knew He understood. Why not check out this website.

Psalm 73 and Romans 15 are only two verses in the 66 Books of the Bible. Psalm 119 is a great Psalm to lift your spirit.  Trusting in God and claiming His promises gives encouragement and hope. The in-between month doesn’t have to make us feel cold inside.  God can melt those feelings.

Andy Rooney (ex-60 Minutes USA) had many quotes and one was, “I’ve learned that everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you’re climbing it”.
